With summer just around the corner it seems everyone's racing off to the gym to work on their summer bod’s.
There’s a whole lot of functional, circuit style gyms with quick, fun and effective workouts, but we want to help you get the most out of your workouts this summer and feel the least amount of aches and pains while doing it.


During exercise your muscles are continuously contracting and releasing. The more repetitive the movement is, the higher your chances are of getting trigger points and muscle tightness.
This is why stretching after exercise is so important, because when you stretch you're allowing the muscle fibers to sit nicely aligned.


Exercising without stretching leaves you more prone to;

  • Injury

  • Headaches

  • Muscle strain

  • Decrease of recovery time


When you stretch, it is important to hold the position for at least 30 seconds. A good time to stretch is before exercise, after exercise and the days in between exercise. This decreases the chance of painful trigger points, muscle shortening and all over tightness. Adding a regular yoga class into your exercise regime is a perfect way to ensure you are regularly releasing your muscles and supporting your bod. 


To support your body it is also important to have regular massage. As a guide we suggest every 2-3 weeks if you're exercising every day and every 3-6 weeks if you’re exercising 1-2 times a week.
That’s 1 hour of relaxing those muscles for every 10-15 hours spent working them.
Investing in self care will help rid your body of any trigger points that have come up, it’ll give your muscles a chance to loosen off and deactivate and it will mean you get the best results from your workouts.
